Even if you also do conventional warm-up exercises and train at a gym, towards the end of a Tai Chi session, you realise the limbs and body have been moving without risk of strain through pathways your normal life does not demand.
Importantly, without you realising immediately, it also teaches you to walk in a more stable way. This is particularly important for older people, for whom a fall could be not just unpleasant, but dangerous.
One further advantage, as we start our Tai Chi warm up exercises, all other thoughts go and I'm at my calmest. That in itself is valuable.
